Intimate Tamil Wedding With The Bride In An Electric Blue Silk Saree

Not every day do you come across weddings that leave you stunned with their sheer simplicity and warmth! Swetha & Aravind's small, intimate celebration was one such wedding. From a vivid mehendi setup to a starry night sangeet and regalia-filled wedding, every event was a true reflection of their emotions! While Swetha shone as a bride in her electric blue kanjeevaram, Aravindh ensured to compliment her perfectly in his traditional outfit.
Psst.. this wedding is worth adding to your traditional wedding mood board!
Meet Swetha & Aravindh
Our hashtag was #frompwctopyaar since that is where we met.
"It wasn’t love at first sight. In fact, it wasn’t even friendship at first sight! We were simply coworkers at the same firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC)." - penned, the bride.
Two healthcare analytics consultants based out of Chicago, Aravindh and Swetha were coincidentally placed on the same project in Durham, NC at the beginning of 2019. As their project team became closer and closer, so did Aravindh and Swetha - and then tragedy struck. Swetha decided she was going to leave consulting to pursue a career in nursing. Worse yet, she’d be leaving Chicago for a different Midwestern city that starts with a C: Cleveland, Ohio. Aravindh started to realize that his work day was a lot less bright without the terrible jokes and constant laughter of his friend. They started to keep in touch - and after endless texts, phone calls, and encouragement from mutual friends - Aravindh finally asked Swetha out on a date.
The rest was history, the future is a mystery, and the present is filled with nothing but pyaar.

From The Bride
We chose to get married in Bangalore, so that our grandparents (who are based in India) could easily attend. For us living in the US, this was quite a challenge - but everyone took it in stride and we were able to plan an event that made us all happy. My husband and I had envisioned a small, intimate celebration that prioritized the experience of our guests. Whether local or international, we wanted our guests to feel transported to a retreat, a lush natural haven surrounded by greenery and relaxation. We wanted our wedding to have a mix of contemporary and traditional elements of decor depending on the event. Our mehendi was meant to be floral, playful, and garden-party-esque, while our sangeet was filmy and brought the fireworks (literally). Our wedding ceremony really infused the traditional elements back in, with a constructed temple mandap that could only be thought up in our wildest dreams! Truly, we wanted to give our guests and ourselves the best of all worlds - a destination wedding of sorts while emphasizing the natural beauty and traditions of India.
About WedMeGood App
I used the WedMeGood app to start getting an idea of where I wanted to shop - I took a one-week trip in April of 2022 to choose outfits and had to be extremely focused due to the time constraints. WedMeGood's live session with Chamee and Palak as well as posts from Kalki Fashion and Pernia's PopUp Shop helped me to narrow down my search. Additionally, WedMeGood South's coverage helped me to find my wedding saree from Kanakavalli and other sarees in my trousseau from Tulsi Silks and Sarangi Silks. The WedMeGood app also helped me to start looking at venues from abroad.
Vendor Reviews
Venue: Miraya Greens, Bangalore
Our venue was Miraya Greens off Bannerghatta Road in Bangalore. It is a mostly outdoor (although, there is one large, beautiful, indoor hall) venue with several sprawling lawns and no shortage of natural beauty. There are waterfalls, swimming pools, and a beautiful on-site lodging complex with 33 rooms (most rooms can fit between 2-4), including three large suites for the bride, groom, parents, etc. The property owners and managers are incredibly helpful and very willing to answer all questions, allow you to thoroughly tour the property multiple times before making a decision (believe me, we did!), and can host events for sizes up to 2000 people while still having the ability to give a small, intimate feel if you have a much smaller number of guests like we did.
Makeup Artist: Sheena Beauty
She's based out of Chennai and was able to do natural, beautiful, unique looks for both me and my mom over the course of several events.
Wedding Planning: Prerana Events, Chennai
Both of our parents are pretty traditional and the rituals were the most important part of our wedding. Sudha and Anuradha of Prerana Events made sure to pay attention to all the details, and had in-depth knowledge of what the priests would need to make sure that the rituals were done properly and successfully. They also handled the catering and the food was wonderful! Each event had a different cuisine and our guests loved all of it.
Photography: Ankit Singh
Based out of Bangalore, Ankit and his team (Pratyush was the videographer) did an incredible job capturing the moments that were important to us, directing us to our best angles, etc. They were able to capture raw shots that truly depicted all the emotions we were feeling as well as portrait photography that made us look and feel amazing!
Decor: Madhu Shetty from Evento Solutions
He has worked with Miraya Greens multiple times before and it really helped to have a decorator who knew the venue so well. He asked for our general ideas, vision, colors we liked, etc - and then allowed his creativity to let the final decor come together. The result was an outstanding surprise both to us as well as to our guests - around each corner was a marvel with personal details that truly pulled our wedding together and made everything feel like a fairytale. His work was truly the subject of dreams.
